Below is a review of the 2008 Desert Mob show by Nicholas Rothwell. His writing re Desert Art in the Age and the Australian is worth searching for http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24414992-5013571,00.html

Some interesting blogs. Check out the conversation on thriving in the desert re the ethical trade in art:

Bob Gosford is a Lawyer, writer and ethno-ornothologist (he likes birds) and he lives in Yuendemu, 300kms north west of Alice Springs. He is writing some really lovely stuff at the moment about the consequences of the rain in the inland areas.

This is a link to Nicholas Rothwell's opening address for the inaugural 2009 Cairns Art Fair - it is an excellent over view and quite singular perspective on the indigenous art scene in Australia at the moment, and well worth taking the hour to listen to it.
